This event is open to authors, fans, readers, editors, publishers and anyone else who supports the mystery genre. Guests of Honor: Rhys Bowen & Barry Eisler. Toastmaster: Lee Goldberg. Chairs: Bill & Toby Gottfried. This unconventional convention will feature interviews, writing workshops, panels, reading groups, a dramatic premiere of House without a Key, luau, Awards Brunch (Lefty, Hawaii 5-0, Bruce Alexander), side trips, Hawaiian naturalist talks, forensics, thrillers, Sisters in Crime and so much more. Book 'Em Event:
When: March 21, 2009
Where: Charleston, SC

This event is open to the general public and admission is free. We are currently looking for authors who are interested in signing their books and participating in panel discussions and solo book talks. Hosted by a partnership between The Book 'Em Foundation and law enforcement, the mission is to raise awareness of the correlation that exists between high illiteracy rates and high crime rates, increase literacy and decrease crime. The Foundation was co-founded by Sisters in Crime author p.m.terrell and Officer Mark Kearney of the Waynesboro, VA Police Department. Past participants have included Janet Evanovich, Catherine Coulter, Ellen Hopkins, Cathy Maxwell and Jodi Picoult.
