The Sisters in Crime Speakers Bureau is now underway. We’ve got a growing roster of terrific speakers, all SinC members and award winners and/or best-sellers, and SinC National will provide them to chapters as teachers, or presenters, or seminar leaders. Want to have a conversation with Laurie R. King? Learn about creating a successful series from Katherine Hall Page? Discover the secrets of plotting from Margaret Maron? Those are just some of the possibilities!
Here’s how it works: Chapter presidents or programming chairs may click here for an application. Choose three authors you’d be interested to host, as well as three possible dates for your event.
We will check with the speakers, assign one who is available for the dates you desire, and let you know what program(s) they can offer. If that works for you, we’ll connect you and our speaker so you can work out logistics. Right now, up to 10 chapters can get a speaker for the upcoming year (Sept 2015-Sept 2016)—but that may change as the program grows!
UPDATE (January 19, 2016): We have decided we can subsidize three more speakers in 2016. If your chapter is NOT already scheduled for 2016 or 2017 (see at bottom of page below for the list), you may submit or resubmit your request to be considered for this year. We will draw three winners at random, and let you know.
Please do not resubmit for the three 2016 slots if you are on the list for 2017. If you are listed for 2018, you may send us a 2016 request. Please indicate in the questions/comments field that it is a 2016 EXTRA SUBMISSION.
It’s free! SinC national will pay each speaker for the appearance—and it will include all their expenses, travel and hotel. (Speakers will make their own travel arrangements. Of course, it would be lovely if your chapter would provide transportation to and from the airport and your event, but you should work that out with your guest.)
Speakers now available:
- Rhys Bowen
- Allison Brennan
- Jan Burke
- Laura DiSilverio
- Jessica Lourey
- Alice Loweecey
- Laurie R. King
- Nancy Martin
- Jenny Milchman
- Katherine Hall Page
- Nancy Pickard
- Hank Phillippi Ryan
- Marcia Talley
- Elaine Viets
- Lynn C. Willis
Specific scheduling will be arranged by the chapter and the speaker. Any changes in dates will be handled on the chapter level. If you have questions, please let us know! SinC National is eager to provide your chapter with the unique expertise and exceptional knowledge of these wonderful authors.

Want to be part of the Sisters in Crime Speakers Bureau? If you are a national best selling or major award-winning author, a professional editor, a professional agent, a teacher or an experienced presenter of seminars, we would love to have you share your experiences with other Sisters in Crime members at chapter meetings throughout the country.
Sisters in Crime has a limited budget for the speakers bureau, and we can fund 10 classes a year. If you would like to participate, and fulfill those qualifications, please let us know! Contact Laura DiSilverio or Hank Phillippi Ryan.
Please include the topics of classes you would be interested in teaching. This is not an opportunity for you to promote your new book, but an educational opportunity for the chapters.
Chapters will select several possible speakers for their event, and SinC will try to provide top choices when we can.
