Overview:  We all know that insider information makes our work ring true. In this webinar, Carmen Amato draws on her 30-year intelligence career to take you inside the Central Intelligence Agency. The webinar is a must-attend if you love writing--and reading--about spies and espionage. You'll get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at why the CIA exists, its roots in World War II, a tour of the Headquarters building, and learn how the world's premiere intelligence agency is organized. You'll be able to lend authenticity and drama to your stories when it comes to writing about the craft of intelligence and the characteristics your characters need to be believable.

About Carmen Amato:

Carmen Amato is a retired Central Intelligence Agency intelligence officer. She is a recipient of both the National Intelligence Award and the Career Intelligence Medal. Previously head of a U.S. national intelligence tradecraft school, she also headed an intelligence collection program with responsibility across the Western Hemisphere.

Originally from upstate New York, Carmen’s experiences in Mexico and Central America launched her fiction career. She holds a BA (cum laude) in history and political science from LeMoyne College and a Masters in International Relations from the University of Virginia, as well as certificates of completion from Institut Catholique in Paris, France, and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

Attendee Prize

Also, one lucky attendee will receive a free copy of WRITES OF PASSAGE: ADVENTURES ON THE WRITER’S JOURNEY, a Sisters in Crime publication edited by Hank Phillippi Ryan. The path of a writing career can be rocky and twisty and full of dead ends. But it’s also well-traveled-and in Writes of Passage, fifty-eight mystery authors offer the secrets that helped them navigate their success.
