Overview: Learning how to write a solid synopsis is a valuable skill for all fiction writers. A synopsis can be a plotting tool, helping you envision your story start to finish before you begin writing the manuscript. A synopsis can be a revision tool, helping you and your critique partners or beta readers spot plot holes, leaps in story logic, or opportunities to tighten up mushy middles. And a synopsis can be a sales tool, helping you convey your story to agents and editors. And let’s not forget how a well-written synopsis is key to winning writing contests! Join Angie for this one-hour class and tips and tricks that will help you no matter where you are in your writing process!

Angie Hodapp holds a BA in English and secondary education and an MA in English and communication development. A graduate of the Denver Publishing Institute at the University of Denver, she has worked in publishing and editing for the better part of the last two decades and loves helping authors hone their craft. She worked as an editorial assistant at Colorado Review, as a project manager for a publisher of resources for educators, and as an editor in the magazine industry before joining the staff at Nelson Literary Agency. She loves teaching classes of interest to writers—everything from writing craft and information design to query-letter boot camps and royalties-auditing workshops. Angie is currently reviewing queries and manuscripts on behalf of all four agents at Nelson Literary Agency.
