Wondering if you should participate in National Novel Writing Month, the challenge to write a 50,000-word draft of a novel in November? Authors Gigi Pandian and Rachael Herron—who used NaNoWriMo to write their debut novels and still use it today—will spill their secrets about why the challenge is perfect at any stage of your writing career. They’ll share tips and tricks for how to get the most out of the month that changed both of their lives forever.

Rachael Herron is the internationally bestselling author of more than two dozen books, including thriller (under R.H. Herron), mainstream fiction, feminist romance, memoir, and nonfiction about writing. She received her MFA in writing from Mills College, Oakland, and she teaches writing extension workshops at both UC Berkeley and Stanford. She is a proud member of the NaNoWriMo Writer’s Board and of Sisters in Crime.

Gigi Pandian is a USA Today bestselling and Agatha Award-winning mystery author, breast cancer survivor, and accidental almost-vegan. The child of cultural anthropologists from New Mexico and the southern tip of India, she spent her childhood traveling around the world on their research trips, and now lives outside San Francisco with her husband and a gargoyle who watches over the garden. She writes mysteries that are a cross between Indiana Jones and Agatha Christie, and loves Sisters in Crime so much that she’s served on the boards of SinC National and her local SinC chapter.
