Sisters in Crime National Suspends Major Events for Sixty Days

As a community based in gathering to share stories, Sisters in Crime takes very seriously the threat of the COVID-19 virus to our members and readers. To help flatten the curve of incidence of coronavirus in the United States, we are temporarily suspending all major events originating from Sisters in Crime, including our Speakers Bureau program and our breakfast at Malice Domestic, which is postponed along with the conference. We ask our chapters and members to reconsider all travel plans and events that require travel for themselves or from others in the next sixty days. We also ask everyone in the mystery community, including major conferences that we sponsor, to reconsider plans with regards to the fast-updating guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and their local government entities. You can keep up to date with CDC measures and advice at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html.

If the date of your plans cannot be changed, please consider moving your meetings or speaking events to Zoom, Skype, Facebook Live, Google Hangouts, Crowdcast, or other online gathering applications, inviting both speakers and audience members to participate from home. Chapter leadership can look to their iO group for ideas and best practices for online meetings.

We hope you all practice social distancing as much as you are able. Please stay patient with our organization and other volunteers in the mystery community as we figure out how to best serve you in light of this situation.

National President, Sisters in Crime
