Call to Action – Library Funding in Danger

Sisters in Crime is responding to the urgent need to save the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

The current administration has proposed to eliminate this federal agency in the fiscal year of 2018. Cutting IMLS will effectively end all federal funding for libraries of all kinds. It’s true that many libraries are funded in other ways, but many libraries also suffer from lack of local tax support or use federal funds for supplemental programs. In Ohio alone, which also has a healthy state funding source, e-book access will be restricted in 177 public libraries should this funding be cut. (Source:

What does this mean for SinC?

Libraries will have fewer funds to purchase books by SinC authorsLibrary patrons who cannot afford to purchase books will not be able to read books by SinC authors. In a time when reading and information are so necessary, this access will now be limited.

What should you do?
